Paul Pinza
Dean of Language Arts
Paul Pinza is a San Jose native with a career spanning over 25 years in education. In the classroom, he taught high school ESL, literacy, public speaking, and launched an AP English Language course that successfully recruited underrepresented students. He also served on the Curriculum Framework Committee with the California Department of Education, helping to draft the state’s K-12 instructional framework for English and ESL. “I’ve seen first-hand how integrated tutoring operations and learning communities cultivate college-readiness among marginalized and underrepresented students. I’m thrilled to work at Chabot as we re-imagine what a truly accessible and just college looks and feels like.” Paul lives in Fairview (between Hayward and Castro Valley) with his wife Rhee and their dog Domino. Their son Donovan is an aspiring geologist currently studying at Sonoma State. He has acted and directed community theatre productions and plays soccer and disc golf when he can.
